STATION: 93.5 RED FM
Music and Shows: HINDI, BENGALI, INTERNATIONAL. Hindi Music is often oldies. They hardly play any Bengali music. Some of the shows are produced at Delhi, Mumbai stations.
The station mainly targets Hindi speaking listeners. Their International music show is very bad!

RJs: The only standard RJs are RAKESH, JIMMY, PRAGYA, MOUSHUMI and NILAM. The RJs are mostly Hindi speaking.

Transmission: GOOD.

STATION: 98.3FM RADIO MIRCHI
Music and Shows:HINDI, BENGALI, INTERNATIONAL. The station has JUST ONE show for International music which is surprising for a city like Kolkata. They repeat their music which degrades the station's general rating.

RJs: All of them are good and lively. Mention should be made of RJs ARNABI and MEER who are just Excellent in their delivery and sense of humour.

RJ Meer is a talented voice on the radio, though he dishes out rubbish on ETV Bangla. The show Haun Maun Khaun on ZEE Bangla is meant for uneducated lot. No blame to hosts Meer and Rimjhim Mitra. The show Baeta Betir Battle on ETV Bangla is vulgar.

It is unfortunate that 98.3 RADIO MIRCHI IS SCARED TO TAKE LIVE PHONE CALL. THEY JUST PLAY BACK RECORDED AND EDITED CALL. THE EDITING IS OFTEN BAD.

Transmission: VERY GOOD.

STATION: AIR 100.2FM GOLD
Music and Shows: BENGALI, HINDI and INTERNATIONAL. It is basically a news channel.

RJs: The RJs are okay and they host varied shows which are often interesting and informative.

Transmission: Often NOT Stereophonic. It sounds like Medium Wave transmission. Levels Fluctuate most probably due to faulty Console. And as appears from all the AIR KOLKATA stations, FM GOLD's CD players and other machines are VERY VERY BAD!

Music and Shows: BENGALI, HINDI. Music mostly repeated several times a day.The whole thing becomes VERY VERY BORING. They play very few Oldies.

RJs: MOST OF THEM ARE NOT FIT FOR BROADCASTING. Some of them have very POOR voice.

Transmission: GOOD.

STATION: AIR 107FM RAINBOW
Music and Shows: BENGALI, INTERNATIONAL, HINDI.
Most of the shows are varied and interesting in terms of content. But compared to other stations, the production of AIR FM shows are BAD! If AIR FM can come up with good studio production then it will be much better than boring private stations.

AIR FM RAINBOW MUST come up with MORE phone-in English, Hindi and Multi-lingual shows to attract listeners and revenue. It shouldn't become just another music radio station. The Marketing must be dealt with by a professional house.

RJs: Most of the RJs are NOT professionals though they try to do their job sincerely.

There are some GOOD RJs like Debjani, Mitali, Sunetra (Hindi) and Ayantika (Bengali), who try their best to maintain a standard. But AIR FM Bengali can be made more attractive. Why are there pauses during the Bengali shows?

We hope that the fresh voices will try to work hard and understand that an FM service cannot be a stiff-collared channel like the Medium Wave of decades gone by. Reading and choice of Music of some English RJs are very poor. Their training (VANI) has been useless.

Music and Shows: HINDI, INTERNATIONAL. Power FM is known for its ability to bring in the latest music on Kolkata FM airwaves. But they repeat the same music again and again.

RJs: They are okay but some of them are too stiff and it sounds as though they are rushing through their script. FM has to be full of Fun and voices should be relaxed.

Transmission: VERY GOOD.

STATION: 93.5 RED FM

Music and Shows: HINDI, BENGALI.Hindi Music is often oldies. Bengali music recent and oldies.

RJs: They usually speak in old fashioned Hindi. Their Bengali RJ Sanjiv speaks artificial Bengali which is NOT FIT FOR BROADCAST. Jimmy is a very popular RJ who however must think of some new lines for his show DilSe. He has become repetitive. Callers are immatured and often idiotic. Jimmy can come up with a proper QUIZ show and a COUNTDOWN show of his own. Nilam is a very good RJ and her voice is truly enchanting. Perhaps the secret lies in her experience at AIR FM Kolkata.

Transmission: Usually Perfect though there have been instances of Breakdown.

That lowers the credibility of the show.

RJs: All of them are good and lively EXCEPT RJ Vishal who sometime sounds DULL. Probably its because of the shows he is supposed to host whose content are uninteresting.Mention should be made of RJs ARNABI and MIR who are just Excellent in their delivery and sense of humour.

Transmission: Absolutely perfect.

The Marketing must be dealt with by a professional house.

RJs: Most of them are NOT good. There are however few Exceptions LIKE Reshma RoyChowdhury, Biswadip Mitra, Mohua Sarkar, Keya Mukherjee, Ayantika - who are almost Perfect. However they too often suffer possibly owing to faulty studio set-up.

Transmission: Levels Low. Not upto the mark.

RJs: Except Sekhar and Priyanka, rest speak with an artificial accent. Often sounds FUNNY. They just rush through their script, punctuated with the catchline ALL HITS ALL DAY. The station is okay for those, who don't understand the broader scope of radio.

Transmission: Absolutely Perfect.
